Report The structure I chose is the Acropolis, in Athens, Greece. The Acropolis is located on a cliff overlooking the city, and it is approachable only on the west side, as the rest is surrounded by cliff. It is unknown exactly who designed it, as the Greeks were constantly building and adding to it over the centuries, but we do know that it was built by the Athenians. Construction began in the 13th century BCE, and construction was finished in the 5th century BCE with the addition of the Parthenon, the Erechtheion, the Propylaia, and the temple of Athena Nike. No technological advancements came out of this particular structure, although it had a huge impact on future designs. The influence of Ancient Greek architecture is widespread. The classic columns are found on many of our landmarks, including the Lincoln Memorial, the Capitol, and the building of the Supreme Court. I chose this building because I love Ancient Greece: the myths, the architecture, the ideas and philosophies that came from them. The Acropolis is a symbol of Greece, and it is located in my favorite city there: Athens.
